Project Setup Options

Admin User

Once you have created a project, you can update project setup options as needed. You can modify the content and setup options in the Contract, Change Control, Fields, Structures, ENS Values, Settings, Standard Docs, Milestones, Cost Codes, Cost Report Groups, and Pricing Options tabs within the Manage Projects tab window. Common update activities are listed below.

What do you want to do?

  • Set the Project Budget Base for the new project. This includes the contract total cost value, budget baseline value, and budget set aside as management reserve. You may also want to Enable the Change Control Log as well if you intend to use the change control workflow process. You may also need to set the change control debit account to either management reserve or undistributed budget before you process your control account and subordinate work package changes. See Set Budget Change Debit Account.
  • Add Project User Fields. User defined codes and fields can be assigned at the work breakdown structure (WBS)/control account or work package level. These user defined codes and fields display in the main EVMax window. This topic also discusses editing the user field Prompt and deleting a user code or field.
  • Disconnect Global Structures. For projects that are using global calendar, rate, and resource structures, you can disconnect them and create project specific structures at any time.
  • Set Project Available Resources when you want to narrow the list of resources that can be assigned to work packages.
  • Set Project Resource Filters when you have added user defined codes or fields to the project's resource structure.
  • Enter the enterprise nodal structure (ENS) user defined field content for a project. See Add ENS User Fields.
  • Set the Project Start Date and End Date for the new project if you haven't already done this. This determines the project's period of performance.
  • Enable Workflow for a Project
  • Add Project Standard Documents. Standard documents can be added to the work breakdown structure (WBS)/control account or work package level. Users enter the documentation text in the main EVMax window.
  • Create a Milestone Library to use for work packages assigned the Earning Rules earned value technique. See Milestone Library for more information about how to implement a milestone library for a project.
  • Generate Project Cost Codes for the earned, actual costs, and forecast (estimate to complete) data. You do this once for a new project to generate the cost codes as well as to set the actual costs and forecast level of data detail for your business environment. The actual costs and forecast data may be at the control account or work package level.
  • Add a Project Cost Code
  • Set Project Level Rate Class
  • Add a Project Cost Report Group
